*_DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER_*
Yaumul ahad | 26th day of Safar, 1448 AH | Sunday, 9th August, 2026. *_TAFSEER OF SŪRAH AN-NAAZI'AAT (Qur'an 79) continues_*. BismilLah
Let's continue with our studies of suurah An-Naazi'aat from verse 34 to 41 which speaks about "The fate of the people of Paradise and Hell".
In verses 27–33, ALLAH Azzawajal reminded mankind of HIS tremendous power: HE Azzawajal created the heavens, established the earth, brought forth water and vegetation, and placed the mountains firmly upon it. Now ALLAH Azzawajal brings the discussion back to the Hereafter. After describing the blessings we enjoy in this life, HE warns us that a day is coming when this temporary worldly life will come to an end. On that Day, people will be divided according to how they lived.
The passage presents two completely different paths:
Those who transgressed and preferred the worldly life. Those who feared standing before ALLAH Azzawajal and restrained themselves from sinful desires.
Verse 34
فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَىٰ
"But when the greatest catastrophe comes." At-Ṭāmmah al-Kubrā means the greatest overwhelming calamity. It refers to the Day of Resurrection, when the events of the Last Day will overwhelm everything that came before.
The word طَامَّة (ṭāmmah) carries the meaning of something that overwhelms and surpasses everything.
ALLAH Azzawajal describes the Day of Judgment in different places with different names, each highlighting one of its terrifying characteristics:
Yawm al-Qiyāmah, The Day of Resurrection. Yawm ad-Dīn, The Day of Recompense. Yawm al-Ḥisāb, The Day of Account.
Al-Ḥāqqah — The Inevitable Reality.
Aṭ-Ṭāmmah al-Kubrā, The Greatest Overwhelming Event. This should make us realise that this world is not our final destination. To be continued tomorrow in Shaa ALLAH. *_May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences_*. Aameen.
