Yaum al-ithnayn | 18th day of Rabee-ul Awwal, 1448 AH | Monday, 31st August, 2026. *_UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT WE SAY IN OUR SALAAT CONTINUES_*. BismilLah. 

Let's continue with our understanding of what we say during salaat. As we rise from rukūʿ, we say:

سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ

Samiʿallāhu liman ḥamidah

Meaning:

“ALLAH hears the one who praises HIM.” This isn't merely telling us that ALLAH Azzawajal physically hears our voice. ALLAH'S hearing is perfect. HE hears every servant, every prayer and every praise, regardless of how quietly it is spoken. It also carries the meaning that ALLAH responds to and gives attention to the praise of HIS servant.

Once we are standing upright, we say:

رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ

Rabbana wa lakal-ḥamd

Meaning: “Our Lord, and to You belongs all praise.”

There is something profound about the sequence.

In rukūʿ we say:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ

“Glory is to my Lord, the Magnificent.” We acknowledge ALLAH'S greatness.

Then we rise and say:

سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ

“ALLAH hears the one who praises HIM.”

Then:

رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ

“Our Lord, to You belongs all praise.”

So the movement is almost like a conversation:

Rukūʿ:

“Ya ALLAH, YOU are Magnificent.”

Rising:

“ALLAH hears those who praise HIM.”

Standing:

“Our Lord, all praise belongs to You.”

Then we prepare ourselves for the greatest position of humility:
