The greatness of the sahaba(companions).
Alhamdulillah, the Sahaaba (companions) were the best of creations after the prophets and messengers.
Allah says,
Aal-e-Imran 3:110
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in AllΔh. If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.
Allah s.w.t praised the Sahaaba as the best of generations because they encourage upon what is good and forbade what is Evil.
As reported in hadith
Narrated Abu Sa`id:
The Prophet (ο·Ί) said, "Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to Uhud(in Allah's Cause) it would not be equal to a Mud or even a half Mud spent by one of them."
Sahih al-Bukhari 3673.
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ο·Ί) as saying:
Do not revile my Companions, do not revile my Companions. By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if one amongst you would have spent as much gold as Uhudit would not amount to as much as one much on behalf of one of them or half of it.
Sahih Muslim 2540.
To abuse the companions can make us apostate because Allah S.W.T is pleased with them and has approved of them.
The companions suffered, lost their wealth, their families, some lost their dignity yet they never stop praising their Deen.
Let's reflect on this hadith,
Narrated Khabbab bin Al-Arat:
We complained to Allah's Messenger (ο·Ί) (of the persecution inflicted on us by the infidels) while he was sitting in the shade of the Ka`ba, leaning over his Burd (i.e. covering sheet). We said to him, "Would you seek help for us? Would you pray to Allah for us?" He said, "Among the nations before you a (believing) man would be put in a ditch that was dug for him, and a saw would be put over his head and he would be cut into two pieces; yet that (torture) would not make him give up his religion. His body would be combed with iron combs that would remove his flesh from the bones and nerves, yet that would not make him abandon his religion. By Allah, this religion (i.e. Islam) will prevail till a traveler from Sana (in Yemen) to Hadrarmaut will fear none but Allah, or a wolfas regards his sheep, but you (people) are hasty.
Sahih al-Bukhari 3612
