The third category of the nullifiers of Islām and Eemān is DENIAL OF SOME OR ALL OF ALLĀH’S NAMES OR HIS ATTRIBUTES.


Allāh has affirmed for Himself many beautiful Names and perfect Attributes in the Noble Qur'ān and through the authentic Aḥadīth of His Messenger (ﷺ). Among these are His Knowledge, Strength, Power, Glory, Greatness, Will, Desire, Intent, Pleasure, Displeasure, Hearing, Sight, Speech, Mercy, Watchfulness, Face, Hands, Leg, His Establishment over His Throne or His Transcendence over it, His Descent to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, and many others.


A true believer must affirm all of these Names and Attributes as they have been revealed, while believing that they are unique to Allāh’s Majesty and Perfection and bear no resemblance to the attributes of His creation. They are neither comparable nor similar in any way. As Allāh (ﷻ) says: “…There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearer and All-Seer.” [Sūrah Ash-Shūrā (42): 11] 


There is absolutely nothing equal or comparable to Allāh. He is far above every created being in His Essence, Names, and Attributes. Whatever the human mind imagines about Allāh, His Greatness is infinitely beyond it. We must therefore confine ourselves to what Allāh has revealed about Himself and what His Messenger (ﷺ) has authentically conveyed regarding His Attributes. We should neither add to them nor attempt to describe how they are. Likewise, we must not compare them to the attributes of creation, take them away from their proper meanings, distort them, or impose false interpretations upon them.


Although the reality of Allāh’s Attributes is beyond the full grasp of human understanding, we accept them upon their apparent meanings in a manner that befits His Majesty, while entrusting the knowledge of their true reality to Allāh. As long as we avoid distortion, misinterpretation, and likening His Attributes to those of His creation, we remain upon the path of those rightly guided. Concerning them, Allāh (ﷻ) says: “…And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: ‘We believe in all (clear and unclear verses) that are from our Lord, and none receive admonition except the men of understanding.’” [Sūrah Aal-‘Imrān (3): 7]


I beseech Allāh (ﷻ) to increase us in beneficial knowledge, strengthen our faith, and keep us firm upon the correct belief. Aameen.

 *BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him?
