DOES THE WIFE HAVE A RIGHT TO COMPENSATION AFTER THE DIVORCE?

 *_DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER_*

Yaum athalaatha | 7th day of Swafar, 1448 AH | Tuesday, 21st July, 2026. *_DOES THE WIFE HAVE A RIGHT TO COMPENSATION AFTER THE DIVORCE_*?. BismilLah.

The wife has a right to: Any unpaid mahr (dowry) regardless of how the marriage ended. Maintenance during her ʿiddah time. Payment for breastfeeding, if she breastfeeds after divorce.

ALLAH Azzawajal says:

"If they breastfeed your children for you, then give them their payment."

(Qur'an 65:6). She does not automatically have a right to:

Ongoing financial support simply because she is divorced (after the end of her ʿiddah, unless she is pregnant, in which case maintenance continues until delivery) and continues during breastfeeding and child's maintenance.

The Father's Responsibilities Continue even after divorce if children are involved. The father must continue to provide for his children through her.

ALLAH Azzawajal says:

"...Upon the father is the mothers' provision and their clothing according to what is acceptable."

(Qur'an 2:233). This includes food, clothing, housing, education, healthcare, and other reasonable needs according to his means.

Practical Lessons:

Divorce ends the marriage, not the responsibility of parenthood.

Children should never be used as tools to punish the other parent.

Both parents should cooperate in raising their children with kindness and Islamic values.

The father must fulfil his financial obligations, and the mother must safeguard the child's welfare if she has custody. Any disagreements should be resolved with justice, consultation, and, where necessary, through qualified Islamic scholars or the courts.

Conclusion

In many cases, the mother has the first right to custody of young children if she is fit to care for them, while the father remains financially responsible. Custody arrangements can change depending on the child's age, welfare, and the circumstances.

Compensation: A divorced wife is entitled to the financial rights that Islam grants her (such as unpaid mahr, maintenance during the waiting period where applicable, but there is no general rule in Islamic law requiring additional compensation solely because the marriage ended. *_May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences_*. Aameen.

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD

*BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking something of Me so I may give it to him? Who is asking for My forgiveness so I may forgive him?"' This is related by the group. 'Amr ibn Abasah reports that he heard the Prophet say: "The closest that a slave comes to his Lord is during the middle of the latter portion of the night. If you can be among those who remember Allah, the Exalted One, at that time then do so." This is related by al-Hakim who grades it sahih according to Muslim's standards, and at-Tirmizhi calls it hasan sahih. AnNasa'i and Ibn Khuzaimah also recorded it. Abu Muslim asked Abu Zharr: "Which late-night prayer is the best?" He said: "I asked the Messenger of A...
