TAFSEER OF SUURAH ABASA, QUR'AN 80

 *_DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER_*

Yaum Arba'a | 16th day of Muharram, 1448 AH | Wednesday, 1st July, 2026. *_TAFSEER OF SUURAH ABASA, QUR'AN 80_*. BismilLah.

Suurah ‘Abasa was revealed in Makkah. The opening verses refer to an incident involving the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and a blind Companion, ‘Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum. One day, the Prophet ﷺ was speaking with some influential leaders of Quraysh, hoping that they might accept Islam and that their acceptance would strengthen the Muslim community. During this conversation, Ibn Ummĥĥɓ Maktum رضي الله عنه came seeking guidance and asking the Prophet ﷺ to teach him from what ALLAH had taught him.

Because the Prophet ﷺ was focused on the leaders, he frowned slightly and turned away momentarily from the blind man. ALLAH Azzawajal immediately corrected HIS Messenger through revelation, not because the Prophet ﷺ committed a major sin, but to teach the Ummah that sincere seekers of guidance are more honoured in the sight of Allah than arrogant people of status.

The opening of Surah ‘Abasa teaches that ALLAH Azzawajal values sincerity, humility, and the desire for guidance above worldly rank and influence. A blind believer seeking knowledge was honoured by ALLAH Azzawajal, while arrogant leaders were not given the same importance. These verses remind us to respect every person, prioritize those who seek truth, and remain humble before ALLAH Azzawajal. To be continued tomorrow with the meanings and commentary of the verses. *_May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences_*. Aameen
