FAJR REMINDER: FOLLOWING HIS FOOTSTEPS

Dhū al-Ḥijjah 24, 1447 (10-June-2026)
All praise is due to Allāh, Who sent His Prophets and Messengers with guidance and the religion of truth (Islām), and made it prevail over all other acclaimed religions, even though the disbelievers detest it.
About Ḥajj, it is evident that this noble act of worship was prescribed long before the advent of Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ). Throughout the ages, pilgrims from every corner of the world and from all walks of life have journeyed to the Sacred House, seeking the Pleasure of Allāh, the Most High. In doing so, they follow the blessed path of Prophet Ibrāhīm and his patient and forbearing son, Ismā‘īl (‘Alayhimā Salām).
Among the many profound lessons we learn from Prophet Ibrāhīm (‘Alayhi Salām) is the virtue of Ikhlāṣ (sincerity). He devoted his worship solely to Allāh, seeking none but His Pleasure. Likewise, anyone intending to perform Ḥajj must ensure that this great act of worship is carried out purely for the Sake of Allāh, free from any desire for praise, recognition, or worldly status.
Unfortunately, in recent times, matters have become increasingly complicated. Some Muslims appear to perform Ḥajj for the purpose of showing off, a tendency that has been amplified by the rise of social media. It was narrated from Abū Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said: “Allāh says: ‘I am the Most Self-Sufficient and I have no need for an associate. Thus he who does an action for someone else’s sake as well as Mine will have that action renounced by Me to him whom he associated with Me.’” [Sunan Ibn Mājah 4202]
Dear brothers and sisters intending to perform Ḥajj in the future, make it a priority to learn the rites of Ḥajj as taught by our beloved Prophet (ﷺ). Remember his instruction: “Learn your rituals (by seeing me performing them), for I do not know whether I would be performing Ḥajj after this Ḥajj of mine.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1297] Therefore, take time to study its pillars and requirements. Familiarise yourself with the journey and its rites before setting out, so that your pilgrimage is performed correctly and in accordance with the Sunnah.
I beseech Allāh to grant us beneficial knowledge, sincere intentions, and a proper understanding of His Religion. Aameen.
