FAJR REMINDER: RECAP OF THE LESSONS
By: Umm Affān
Dhū al-Ḥijjah 25, 1447 (11-June-2026)
When we reflect on the numerous trials endured by Prophet Ibrāhīm (‘Alayhi Salām), it becomes clear that very few, if any, among us could withstand such tests with the same level of faith, patience, and submission. For this reason, a believer should never become overly confident in his Eemān (Faith) and ask Allāh to put him through trials. Rather, we should seek His Protection, Well-being, and abundant Blessings. Abū Bakr reported: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, “You are not given anything after the sincere word of faith like wellness, so ask Allāh for wellness.” [Musnad Aḥmad 10]
However, despite our desire for safety and ease, trials are an unavoidable part of life. Allāh (ﷺ) says: “And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to Aṣ-Ṣābirīn (the patient ones, etc.).” [Sūrah Al-Baqarah (2): 155]
In the face of these tests, Ṣabr (Patience) is indispensable. We must remain steadfast in obeying Allāh’s Commands and avoiding what He has prohibited, even when doing so is difficult. For some, wearing the prescribed Ḥijāb may be challenging. For others, openly performing Ṣalāh in certain environments may not be easy. Every believer encounters different struggles and obstacles, yet our duty remains the same: to obey our Lord to the best of our ability. We should patiently endure these challenges, entrust our affairs to Allāh, and rely entirely upon Him for support and guidance.
Dear brethren, let us constantly remember the sacrifice, sincerity, truthfulness, and patience of Prophet Ibrāhīm (‘Alayhi Salām) during times of hardship. Whenever Allāh’s Command reached him, he neither hesitated nor turned away. Instead, he responded with complete submission and unwavering patience. Likewise, we should strive to obey Allāh in both times of comfort and times of difficulty. After all, the One Who commands us is the One Who created and owns us.
Furthermore, we should never lose sight of the fact that ease accompanies hardship. Every difficulty is followed by relief, and every trial carries within it the promise of ease by the Permission of Allāh. In our sacrifices and all other acts of worship, Taqwā (fear and consciousness of Allāh) must remain at the forefront of our hearts and actions.
Finally, when making Du‘ā’, let us ask Allāh for the very best. Ask Him for a righteous spouse, pious children, a comfortable home, beneficial knowledge, and a blessed source of livelihood. Never limit your requests, for Allāh is Most Generous, Most Merciful, and He hears and responds to the supplications of His servants.
I beseech Allāh (ﷺ) to please grant us the best in this Dunyā and the Ākhirah. Aameen.
