TAFSEER OF QUR'AN 81, Suurah At-Takwīr continues

Yaum Al-ithnayn | 7th day of Muharram, 1448 AH | Monday, 22nd June, 2026. *_TAFSEER OF QUR'AN 81, Suurah At-Takwīr continues_*. BismilLah. 


Let's continue with our studies of this beautiful suurah At-Takwīr.

Verses 12–14

وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ ۝١٢

وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ ۝١٣

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا أَحْضَرَتْ ۝١٤

12. "And when the Hellfire is fiercely kindled,"

13. "And when Paradise is brought near,"

14. "Then every soul will know what it has brought forward."

Commentary:

These three verses form a complete scene of the Day of Judgment.

After describing the destruction of the universe and the gathering of creation, ALLAH Azzawajal now mentions the two final destinations:

Jahannam (Hellfire) for those who rejected ALLAH and persisted in sin. Jannah (Paradise) for those who believed and strove to obey ALLAH Azzawajal.


Verse 12: The Hellfire is Intensified

وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ

The Fire will be made to blaze fiercely and prepared for its inhabitants. It is a reminder of ALLAH'S justice against disbelief, oppression, and unrepented sins.


Verse 13: Paradise is Brought Near

وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ

While Hell is prepared, Paradise will be brought close to the righteous believers.

ALLAH Azzawajal says elsewhere:

"And Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far." Qur'an 50:31.

This is a scene of immense joy. The believers who struggled against their desires, remained patient in trials, prayed, fasted, gave charity, and remembered ALLAH Azzawajal will finally see the reward promised to them.


Verse 14: Every Soul Will Know What It Sent Forward.

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا أَحْضَرَتْ

At that moment, every person will fully realize the reality of their deeds. No one will need to be informed: The truthful will know their truthfulness. The charitable will know their charity. The patient will know their patience. The sinners will know their sins. Every deed, whether public or private, will appear before its owner.

ALLAH Azzawajal says:

"So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it."(Qur'an 99:7-8). Allahu Akbar. To be continued tomorrow in Shaa ALLAH.

Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him?
