*Self Evaluation*
[[--Part Three--]]------------------
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
My dear brother and sister, I am speaking to you with a heavy heart. Please listen. Do not wait.
We all say, "Tomorrow. I will do it tomorrow."
We say, "I am young. I have time. I will pray more later. I will give charity later. I will ask for forgiveness later."
This is the biggest lie that shaytan puts in our hearts.
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) warned us. He said:
"Hasten to do good deeds before you are overtaken by one of seven afflictions - sickness, sudden death.......”*📚At-Tirmidhi
Think about these afflictions. They can hit you at any second.
Now,
Listen to this story. It will shake your heart.
When the great Imam Bakr ibn Abdullah Al-Mazny passed away, a huge crowd came to his funeral. People were fighting with each other to carry his coffin. They were pushing and shoving to get close to his body. Al-Hassan Al-Basri was there. He looked at them and said a very powerful thing:
"In the like of his deeds you should compete, not in carrying his coffin."
Think about that.
They were racing to carry a dead body. But where was that race when he was alive? Where were they when he was praying at night? Where were they when he was giving charity and fasting?
They fought carrying over his dead body. But they did not fight to copy his good actions.
My dear brother, my dear sister...
Do not be like that. Do not wait until a person dies to say, "Oh, he was so good. I wish I was like him."
Be like him now.
Race to the mosque. Race to be nice person for the rest of your life. Race to help your parents. Race to read Qur'an everyday outside swalah and say "SubhanAllah and all good adhkar." Race to ask for forgiveness.
You do not know which moment will be your last. The good deed you delay today might be the good deed you never get to do.
Imagine standing before Allah (swt) on Judgement Day. The angels open your book of deeds. It is not carrying something seriously reasonable. Where you could have filled it with very many acts of good deeds. And Allah asks you, "My servant, I gave you life. I gave you health. I gave you time. What did you do with it?"
What will you say? "I was going to, but I delayed"?
That excuse will not work.
So please. I beg you.
If you have a sin you want to leave, leave it now.
If you have a fast you missed, make it up now.
If you have a relative you have not spoken to due to disagreement, call them now.
If you don't give charity frequently, start it now.
Run to Allah before you cannot run anymore. Fill your book before it is closed forever.
May Allah (swt) make us among those who race to good deeds. Ameen Ya Hayyu La Yamootu Abadah.
To be continued...
