Let's continue with our studies of suurah Al-Infitar.

Verse 12.

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ

"They know whatever you do."

Commentary (Tafseer):

This verse completes ALLAH'S description of the recording angels:

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظِينَ

"Indeed, over you are guardians." (82:10)

كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ

"Noble scribes." (82:11)

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ

"They know whatever you do." (82:12)

The meaning is that these angels are fully aware of the deeds ALLAH has commanded them to record. They witness and record our actions with complete accuracy by ALLAH'S permission.

This does not mean that the Angels possess independent knowledge of the unseen. Rather, ALLAH Azzawajal enables them to observe and record the deeds of HIS servants.

The purpose of this verse is to instill a sense of "murāqabah", the awareness that ALLAH Azzawajal is watching us and that our actions are being documented for the Day of Judgment. Allahu Akbar. What a beautiful suurah. Alhamdulillah for HIS guidance.
