SEEKING ALLAH’S SUPPORT IN OUR WORSHIP

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Never become so confident in yourself that you assume you will always remain sincere and steadfast until death. Instead, constantly ask ALLAH Azzawajal to protect your faith and help you remain firm upon worshipping Him.

Consider this remarkable supplication of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) in the Qur’an:

وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَـٰذَا الْبَلَدَ آمِنًا وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ الْأَصْنَامَ

“And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said, ‘My Lord, make this city [Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.’”
[QUR’AN 14:35]

Think about what Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) was asking ALLAH for.

He was asking ALLAH to help him and his children stay away from idol worship. Ibrahim (A.S) was one of the greatest prophets of ALLAH, yet he still recognised his complete dependence on ALLAH’s protection and guidance.

So, what about us?

We should never become careless about our faith. We should constantly ask ALLAH to protect our hearts, keep us sincere, and help us remain steadfast until our final breath.

This is also why, when we hear Hayya ‘alas-Salaah and Hayya ‘alal-Falaah, we say:

لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

“There is no power and no strength except through ALLAH.”

What a powerful reminder that we cannot successfully worship ALLAH except with His help.

And remember this beautiful supplication taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَىٰ ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

“O ALLAH, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in the best manner.”

Let us make this du‘ā regularly and sincerely. We need ALLAH’s help not only to begin our journey of worship, but also to remain steadfast upon it until we meet Him.

May ALLAH Azzawajal continually guide us, strengthen our Eemaan, protect our hearts from shirk and all forms of misguidance, and protect us from the whispers and influences of Shaytaan.

Aameen Ya Rabbal-‘Aalameen. 🤲🏽

 *BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him?
