THE HUSBAND'S RIGHTS OVER HIS WIFE IN ISLAM

 *_DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER_*

Yaum As-sabt | 1st day of Rabee-uthaani, 1448 AH | Saturday, 12th September, 2026.

*THE HUSBAND'S RIGHTS OVER HIS WIFE IN ISLAM_*. BismilLah.

Just as Islam gives the wife important rights over her husband as discussed in yesterday's reminder, the husband also has rights over his wife. These rights must always be understood within the wider Islamic principles of justice, mercy, and obedience to ALLAH Azzawajal.

1. Obedience in what is good:

A wife should obey her husband in matters that are lawful and reasonable. Obedience to the husband does not mean obeying him in sin or anything ALLAH Azzawajal has prohibited.

2. Respect and good character:

She should speak to him respectfully, avoid deliberately humiliating him, and treat him with kindness.

3. Protecting his honour and trust.

A wife should protect her husband's honour, property and private affairs, especially when he is absent.

ALLAH Azzawajal praises righteous wives as those who “guard in the husband's absence what ALLAH would have them guard.” Qur’an 4:34.

4. Protecting the home and family:

The wife has an important responsibility toward the home and children. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The woman is a shepherd over the household of her husband and his children, and she is responsible for them.” Bukhari and Muslim. Note: If the wife is the one working and providing instead of the husband then the husband must take this responsibility honourably in support of the wife. Cook and clean in support of her.

5. The right to marital intimacy.

Both spouses have legitimate intimate rights within marriage. Neither should deliberately use intimacy as a weapon to hurt or punish the other.

6. Not allowing inappropriate people into the home

The husband has the right to expect his wife to protect the privacy and security of their home and not permit someone into the home whom he has legitimate reason to prohibit.

7. Appreciation rather than constant criticism

A wife should recognise her husband's efforts and sacrifices and avoid making him feel that nothing he does is ever enough.

8. Cooperation in building an Islamic family.

Husband and wife should help each other establish salaah, good character, Islamic upbringing and obedience to ALLAH Azzawajal in their household.

But remember the balance:

A husband's rights never give him permission to become a dictator or abuse his wife.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The best of you are those who are best to their wives.” Tirmidhi.

So the Islamic marriage is not:

“You must obey me because I am the husband.”

It is:

“ALLAH Azzawajal has given me responsibilities, and I will fulfil them while you fulfil yours.”

Both husband and wife should regularly ask themselves:

“Am I fulfilling the rights ALLAH Azzawajal has given my spouse?”

*_May ALLAH Azzawajal make our husbands and wives people who fear ALLAH Azzawajal, respect one another, forgive one another and help each other enter Jannah_*. Aameen.

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ "Muslim 2699. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD

*BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking something of Me so I may give it to him? Who is asking for My forgiveness so I may forgive him?"' This is related by the group. 'Amr ibn Abasah reports that he heard the Prophet say: "The closest that a slave comes to his Lord is during the middle of the latter portion of the night. If you can be among those who remember Allah, the Exalted One, at that time then do so." This is related by al-Hakim who grades it sahih according to Muslim's standards, and at-Tirmizhi calls it hasan sahih. AnNasa'i and Ibn Khuzaimah also recorded it. Abu Muslim asked Abu Zharr: "Which late-night prayer is the best?" He said: "I asked the Messenger of A...
